Lillie Gilmer

Honea Path – Lillie Virginia Kerr Gilmer, 79, widow of William Hartwell Gilmer, of 113 Maryland Ave., died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at National Health Care of Anderson.

Born in Anderson County she was a daughter of the late William Benjamin and Rosa Belle Callaham Kerr. She was a member of Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church where she had taught the Sanctuary Sunday School Class for many years, was active in the Ladies Auxiliary, and was director of the Christmas Play for many years. She was retired from Springs Industries Chiquola Plant and had previously worked at both Milliken and Riegel Mills. She was an avid gardener.


Surviving are three sons, Billy Gilmer and wife Fredda, Freddie Gilmer and wife Toni, and Steve Gilmer, all of Honea Path, a sister, Hazel (Libbo) Smith of Honea Path, three grandchildren, Kevin Gilmer, B.J. Gilmer, and Sam Gilmer, all of Honea Path, two great-grandchildren, Kenny and Kristopher, a special aunt and uncle, Clarence and Mary Callaham, of Williamston, Rev. Waymon Brock of Honea Path and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Saturday at the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ted Coody, Rev. Gene Brown, Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Hayes Riddle officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service. The family is at the home of a son, Freddie Gilmer, 911 Elizabeth Street Ext. Online condolences may be made at www.parkerwhitepruitt.com
