George A. Scott

Honea Path – George Albert Scott, 91, of 100 Brock Ave., husband of the late Sybil Cooley Scott, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at his home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1918, the son of the late John David and Flora Harper Scott. He was a graduate of Honea Path High School Class of 1937, a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. navy aboard a destroyer in the Asiatic-Pacific area during 1943, 44, and 45. He was awarded three Battle Stars. He was retired from Chiquola Mills after 62 years service in the office and Maintenance Departments. He was a member of Chiquola United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Tina M. Scott, a grandson, Forrest Thompson, and a sister Lillian Ashley, all of Honea Path. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Robert and Charlie Scott, sisters, Mary Pitts, Frances Faulkner, and Clara T. Epps.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday at Chiquola United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Upson, Rev. Andy Bullions, Rev. Jones Brewer, and Rev. Karen Upson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
