Lula Bell Hinton


Ware Shoals, S.C. Lula Bell Sweezy Hinton, 86, of 201 Maddox Bridge Rd., widow of William Glendol Hinton died Monday, August 3, 2009 at her home. She was born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Jessie A. and Lucinda Hutchins Sweezy. She was retired from Huggins Garment Company and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are: three sons, Joe Hinton and wife Janie, Anderson, Carl Hinton and wife, Irene , Seneca, Bobby Hinton and wife, Ann, Ware Shoals; one daughter, Gail Hinton Culbertson Rogers, Ware Shoals; two brothers, Jack Sweezy, Prosperity, and Jessie Sweezy, Saluda, NC; two sisters, Gertrude Pearson, Westminster, Patricia Cranford, Hawkinsville, Ga., a former son-in-law, Marcus Culbertson , sixteen grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Judy Hinton, a brother, Gene Sweezy, a sister, Minnie Mae Mathews, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 3 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Hans Wunch, Rev. Robert Emory and Rev. Don Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens

Active pallbearers will be Marvin Vaughn, Irvin Vaughn, Brandon Cothran, Kenny Mathews, Randy Hinton, Doyle Hamby, Ronnie Wynn, Willie J. Hinton III, Arrin Mathews and Marcus Culbertson

Honorary escort will be members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Ruth Smith, Linda Higdon, Frank and Pat Childress, Jerry and Shirley Doan., Melba Davis LaVerne Nelson , Jan Rodgers.

The family is at the home of son, Bobby Hinton, 201 Maddox Bridge Road and daughter, Gail Rogers, 10 West Summit Dr. and will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 pm.at Parker-White Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to www.parkerwhitepruitt.com.
