Betty Willis

Honea Path – Betty Cothran Kay Willis, 84, widow of George Kenneth Willis, formerly of 116 Ervin St., died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at National Health Care of Anderson.

Born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Paul “E.T.” and Eva Cothran Kay. She was a member of the Honea Path First Baptist Church where she was a volunteer in the church office for many years. She was a homemaker and a representative for Avon Cosmetics for many years. She had a deep compassion for animals and showed great concern for their welfare. She will be greeted in Heaven by Buffy, Baxter, Church, Brownie, Sparkey, Spicey, Rusty, Skip, Casey, Little Casey, Oliver, Matilda, and Roscoe.

Surviving are a son, Mark Kenneth Willis of Greer, a daughter, Kay Willis Burns and husband Rusty of Anderson; a twin brother, Boyce Kay of Surf City, N.C., a sister, Lillian Bird of Vidalia, Ga., two grandsons, Matthew and Nathan Willis, and one great-grandson, Ryan Scott Willis. She was pre-deceased by a brother Glenn Kay and a sister Verna Greer.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family will be at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 100 S. Main St., Honea Path, S.C. 29654. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of The Maples Assisted Living Facility in Honea Path, and especially to Becky Ellis for the special love and care she gave their mother.
