Alice Ashley

Belton – Mrs. Alice Mae Speer Ashley, 76, of 2114 Jones Chapel Road, widow of George Dean Ashley, died at Carlisle Nursing Center, Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Beverly Henry and Eva Cann Speer. She was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church and a retired seamstress.

Surviving are: three brothers, James Speer and wife Mary of Abbeville, Lewis Speer and friend Connie Powell of Lowndesville and Ben Speer and wife Carol of Abbeville; two sisters, Helen Speer of Abbeville and Beverly Willis of Bentonia, Mississippi; special great niece; Katie Speer and several nieces and nephews; special care givers, Rodney and Jan King and a special little buddy, Tommy Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Wednesday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 3PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Love Fund, 2603 Due West Hwy, Belton, SC 29627 or Carlisle Nursing Center, P. O. Box 307, Due West, SC 29639. The family is at the home.
