Willis Ashley

Belton – James Willis Ashley, 84, of 103 Willis Ashley Rd., widower of Frances Irene McGill Ashley, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House

Born in Anderson County he was a son of the late Lawrence Alburn and Geneva Bowen Ashley. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist church and was retired from Glen Raven Mills of Anderson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Ashley Blackwell of Columbia, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son James Lawrence “Larry” Ashley, and two brothers, William and Henry Ashley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M. Tuesday. The family is at the home. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29621.
