Honea Path – Julius David Massey, age 57, of 208 West Oak Drive Ext., went home to be with Jesus, May 31, 2008 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Ware Shoals, SC, on March 5, 1951, he is the son of Doris Madden Street of Honea Path and Julius D. Massey of Ware Shoals.
He was a graduate of BHP High School and a former employee of Chiquola Mills and Security Forces Inc. He attended Austin Road Baptist Church and is a member of the Family of God.
During his past life he enjoyed coin collecting, listening to the Gaithers gospel music, beautiful flowers, the family pet dog “Buddy” and showering his loving mother with gifts.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three sisters; Adrienne Faith Hennes of Seneca, Gwen Richardson of Hartwell, Ga., Jennifer Susan Haddon of Honea Path, one brother; Chris Massey of Honea Path and one brother-in-law; Roy Richardson of Hartwell, Ga., two nieces; Dawn Langston and Melissa Campbell, one nephew; Chris Timms, four great nieces, three great nephews, aunts and uncles; June and Larry Dukes, Donnie and Linda McEntyre, Calvin and Willy Watson, Effonbee Karakul, numerous cousins and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home in Honea Path followed by the funeral service being held at 2:30 P.M.in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Billy Slatten of Austin Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in Honea Path.
The family ask that memorials to David’s life be flowers as he always enjoyed their beauty.
The family wishes also to express their graditude to all the Hospice staff that gave David such tender loving care during his last days of this life.
David will be greatly missed by all those who dearly loved him.
