Dean P. Gilmer

Ware Shoals - Dean P. Gilmer, 79, husband of Telar Powell Gilmer of 32 Green Acres Drive died Saturday at Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville County, a son of the late Robert Ed and Essie Fleming Gilmer. He was retired from Emerald Center. Mr.Gilmer was an active member of Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher. He was also a member of the D.A.V., having served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving besides his wife of the home are: one son, Dennis Gilmer and wife Lisa of Ware Shoals, one daughter, Carolyn Gilmer Ward and husband, David of Spartanburg, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Ronald Dean Gilmer.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 2 pm at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Mac Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be James Madden, Russell Riley, Terry Powell, Jimmy Price, Jimmy Phillips, and Mike McWhorter.
The honorary escort will be Men of the Church, Boots Henderson, Jake Abercrombie and Melvin Morrell.

The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday, 7-9 pm at Parker-White Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church Monday at 1 pm.
