Walter “Train” Johnson

Georgetown, TX – Walter Lee “Train” Johnson, 63, husband of Rebecca “Becky” Stuart Johnson, of 603 Fieldstone Drive (78633), died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at his home after a long journey with cancer.

Born in Honea Path, S.C. he was a son of the late Jasper and Nettie Bonner Johnson. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Georgetown, TX and was formerly a member of Clemson United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Honea Path High School, Erskine College, and Clemson University. He retired as principal of LaFrance Elementary School after teaching and coaching in the schools of Upstate South Carolina for 30 years. He served as principal at LaFrance Elementary School and Gignilliant Park Alternative School, and assistant principal at Pendleton High School. He had taught or coached at Honea Path Middle School, Belton-Honea Path High School, Westminster High School, and Gignilliant Park Elementary School.

Surviving are his wife of the home, one daughter, Caroline George and husband Matt of Leander, TX, a brother, Bonner Johnson of Honea Path, S.C., and a sister, Stella Thompson of Honea Path. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Nettie “Cookie” Babb.

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Clemson United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Hutchinson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path, S.C. The family is at the home of a sister, Stella Thompson, 512 Sherwood Ave., Honea Path, S.C.
