Born in Saluda, SC, he was a son of the late Albert Lamar and Sarah Pearl Paysinger Banks. He was a member of Harris Baptist Church. He was raised in the home of his Uncle and Aunt, Marion Boyd and Annie Banks Camak. He retired from Smith & Waters of Ware Shoals after many years of service. After retirement he drove a van for The Piedmont Agency on Aging of Greenwood. He enjoyed traveling, Tiger Football, and Braves Baseball.
Surviving is his wife, Dot, of the home, a son, John Lee Banks (Marla)of Rincon, GA, and two grandchildren, Cortney Taylor Vance and Cameron Tyler Fisher (Mary Beth).
He was predeceased by his parents, a son William “Bill” Mahon Banks, by seven brothers, Robert Lamar Banks, John Rhett Banks, Frank Albert Banks, Marion Banks Camak, Joseph Boyd Camak, James Pitts Camak, and Thomas McCants Camak, five sisters, Annie Ruth Quattlebaum, Ada Derrick, Carrie Bell Derrick, Fannie Rae Banks, and Annie May Camak Divver.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals with Rev. Greg Nix officiating. Burial will follow in OakbrookMemorial Park, Hodges, SC.
