Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Carroll Land and Mildred Phillips Thompson. He was a member of River Heights Pentecostal Holiness Church and formerly worked at Vulcan Materials. Richard was a retired professional wrestler for Johnny Love. He was an avid football fan, especially for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Minnesota Vikings. He was very creative and loved making things.

Surviving are: his brother, Matthew Bryan (Sonya) Thompson of Cleveland TN; his special sister-in-law and caregiver, Kimberly Thompson of Belton; and four nephews, Jake, Hunter, Zack, and Aaron.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Jeff Thompson.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, October 3, 2022 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Terry Bailey and Rev. John Woodson officiating.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
