Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late Luther Jackson “Jack” and Ethel Ozela Ashley Major. She was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, and was retired from her work as an office manager at State Farm. She was twice married, first to the late Larry Lowe.
In addition to her husband of the home, Mrs. Gambrell is survived by two sons: Brandon Scott Lowe (Dawn) and Bradley Heath Lowe of Honea Path; her brother Dan Major of Honea Path; and five grandchildren: Jessie Simpson (Nolan), Jacob Lewis, Kaleb Gambrell, Eli Strickland, and Sydney Strickland.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ray and Larry Major; and two sisters: Barbara Wright and Kay Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Monday, August 22 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
