Born in Niskayuna, NY, he was a son of Bernadine Stanton Payton and the late Harold A. Welsch. He was of the Baptist Faith, a graduate of Ware Shoals High School, and his goal in life was to make people laugh and raise his two boys. Lukas was a devoted father and son. He loved his trucks, motorcycles, and working on junk in general. Lukas touched many souls and always left a lasting impression with his genuine spirit. Lukas will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Michael and Bernadine Payton, his maternal grandmother, Nadine S. Stanton, his girlfriend, Kala McClinton, two sons, Christopher H. Welsch and Dawson T. Welsch, three brothers, Jason M. Payton (Erika), Joseph A. Rogers (Gabrielle), Jacob W. Welsch (Heidi), a sister, Stacy Jones, and special friends, Daquan Agnew and Chris Watts.

He was pre-deceased by his father, and a sister, Colleen M. Rogers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Noon at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and Rev. Nathan Wiles officiating. Burial will follow at 11 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 beside his father in the Welsch Family Cemetery in Berne, NY.
