Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Noah F. and Mary Stagg Garrett. He was a member of Honea Path First Assembly of God. He was a veteran of both the US Army and the US Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Milliken and Blair Mill and was a meat cutter for many years.
Surviving are: three daughters, Nell (Bruce) Terry of Abbeville, Patricia Bagwell of Belton and Tammie Kay of Honea Path; a grandson raised in the home, Christopher Getsinger; a very special couple, Randall and Betty Chandler and a caregiver, Oliver Bramlett who he thought of as family; a brother, Franklin Garrett of Moonville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years; his son, Carey Garrett; two brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, June 17, 2022 at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery. A memorial service at his church will be held at a later date.
