Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Milton Golden and Effie Deliah Roper Strawhorn. He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He worked at Riegel Textiles for 30 years, and then at Bi-Lo for 15 years.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 68 years of the home are: two sons, Jim (Betty) Strawhorn of Harrisonburg VA and Tom (Cathy) Strawhorn of Waterloo; two daughters, Wanda Strawhorn of Laurens and Sharon Strawhorn of the home; a sister, Sarah Davis of Clemson; six grandchildren, Sarah Bailey, Rachael Defoor, Ali Keesee, Brett Strawhorn, Tray Strawhorn, and Gracie Waldun; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Strawhorn was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Strawhorn; and three sisters, Ida McCoy, Margaret Medlock, and Myra Smith
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Columbia Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the church prior to the service.
