Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Clifford Bowie and Martha Frances Buzhardt Bowie. He was a retired from the U.S. Navy, Vietnam. and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Greenwood.
Surviving are a son: Shawn Bowie of Ware Shoals, two daughters: Sonya Ouzts of Lexington and Beth Evans of Greenwood, two brothers; Billy Bowie of Hodges and Leonard Bowie of Anderson, one sister: Kaye Thomas of Waterloo, nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild and former wife and friend Connie Bowie of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be 2 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson with Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. The family is at the home of his son, Shawn Bowie, 47 Smith Street, Ware Shoals. Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
