Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ralph and Lucia Hawkins Jones. He was a member of Jones Chapel Church of God of Prophecy, and worked in textiles, for Milliken & Company. He had a love for music, playing and singing in churches and nursing homes.
Mr. Jones is survived by one brother: Jerry D. Jones and wife Debbie of Belton; seven sisters: Faye Jones of the home, Peggy Jones of the home, Mary Ann Davis of Honea Path, Linda Cooley of Belton, Jean Holloway and husband David of Honea Path, Jane Long of Iva, and Dianne Rodriguez and husband Freddy of Honea Path; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Etrulia Ownby.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 3:00 PM at Jones Chapel Church of God of Prophecy, with Bishop E. Howard Steen and Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home, and will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
