Donalds – Ruby Inez “Sis” Beasley Clinkscales, 79, widow of Perry Carlton Clinkscales, formerly of 138 W. Main St., died Saturday at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary Agnes Beasley. She was a member of Donalds Baptist Church and was retired from Huggins Garment Co.

Surviving are a son, Robert Clinkscales and wife Miriam of Abbeville, a brother, Floyd Beasley and wife Eula of Donalds, a sister, Judy Mitchell and husband Jerry of Donalds, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Randall Clinkscales, daughter, Sandra Marie Clinkscales, four brothers, William Otis, Horace, James Ray and Albert Beasley and three sisters, Frances Beasley, Katherine Widner and Ola Mae Chapman.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday at Donalds Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Sturkie and Rev. Ruel Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Ware Shoals – Rickey Dale Simmons, 47, of 601 Sligh Rd., died Thursday, July 15, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Denver, Co., he was a son of the late Dale and Betty Tinsley Simmons. He attended Bethlehem Union Church and was a graduate of Ware Shoals High and Lander College. He was a CPA formerly employed by M&M Accounting.

Honea Path - Mary Evelyn Gambrell Ferguson, 87, widow of W. C. "Bill" Ferguson, formerly of 409 S. Shirley Ave., died Monday, July 11, 2011 at The Maples.

 

Born in Honea Path, she was a dughter of the late Robert Edward and Janie Irene Davis Gambrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a nephew, Robert E. Ricketts and wife Kathey of Seneca, a neice, Mary Jane Young and husband Larry of Honea Path, and several great-nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert Enoch Gambrell, a sister, Dorothy Gambrell Ricketts, and a nephew, Julian Henry Ricketts, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

Ware Shoals – Jesse Mitchell Samples, Jr, 83, husband of Geneva Samples of 26 Circle Street, died Tuesday July 12, 2011.


 

Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Jesse Mitchell and Verla Mullins Sample Sr. He was a member of Hodges Church of God and the Life Builders Sunday School Class. He was formerly employed by Riegel Textile Company and retired from Monsanto where he served on the Fire Brigade. He also was retired from the S.C. Army National Guard after 22 years of service. He was a former Lieutenant with Ware Shoals Fire Department. Jessie loved woodworking, golf, fishing and was an accomplished softball pitcher.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 65 years of the home: two daughters, Brenda S. Lawson and husband Rev. Ron of Gloverville, and Vickie S. Baldwin and husband Robert of Hodges; two sisters Betty McElhannon and husband James of Clinton, and Margie Stone and husband Lewis of Pelzer; three grandchildren, Brenda L. Griffin and husband James, Amanda and Sara Baldwin; one great-great grandchild, Chandler Ryan Griffin.

In addition to his parents, he was pedeceased by two sons, Johnny M. Samples and Randy M. Samples; one daughter, Tammy Lynn Samples; and four brothers, William, Louis, Eugene, and Heyward Samples.

Funeral services will be Friday July 15, 2011 at 2PM at Hodges Church of God with Rev. Charles Caldwell and Rev. Earl Quick officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Donnie and Michael Young, Bryan Butler, John Oxner, Cleve Crawford, and Robert Kimbrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Life Builders Sunday School Class.

Greenville – Charlie Edwin Hendricks, 64, husband of Sue Gudshall Hendricks, of 26 Primrose Lane, died Thursday July 7, 2011 at Greer Memorial Hospital.

 


Born in Ware Shoals, he was the son of the late J. S. “Doc” and Corine Gambrell Hendricks. He was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church in Greenville and previously served in the S. C. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Walden Lodge # 274 A. F. M. where he had served twice as Past Master and was a Shriner. He was retired from L. R. Gorrell Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons: Chad Hendricks of Greenville, Todd Hendricks and wife, Tara Leigh of Livermore, CA; four grandchildren, Peyton, Laney, Katelyn and Nyah Hendricks.

Funeral services will be 2PM Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.  The family is at the home until Sunday, when they will be at 15167 Indian Mound Road Ware Shoals, SC.
