Honea Path – Aubrey Eugene “Brookie” Smith, 80, of 515 Keowee Rd, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Rainy Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ziffie  C. and Faye Shope Smith. He attended the Honea Path Church of God. He was a veteran of the S.C. Army National Guard and owner of Brookie’s Tavern.

Surviving are two sisters, Allie Ashley and Lillie Truelove, both of Honea Path, several nieces and nephews, and a dear and true friend George Black. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Clifford “Chick” Smith, and two sisters, Grace Barnell and Sherron Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Shuler and Rev. Chris Jarrard officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service. The family is at the home of his sister-in-law, Dot Smith, 321 Eastview Street. Honea Path – Ida Margaret McAlister Campbell, 76, widow of David Thomas Campbell, formerly of 117 Humphrey Wright Road, died Tuesday, January 14,2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lura Hammonds McAlister. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and was retired from Rice Mills of Belton.

Surviving are four brothers, Willie McAlister of Georgetown, Thomas McAlister of Newberry, Melvin McAlister of Belton, and Adger McAlister of Little Mountain; a sister, Mildred Humphrey of Savannah, TN; several nieces and nephews and she was a special Granny to her nephew Tayten McAlister. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, James, Alvin, and Wayne McAlister, and a sister, Mae Poole.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lee and Rev. Russell McAlister officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 P.M. Saturday at Keowee Baptist Church prior to the service. The family is at the home of a brother, Melvin McAlister, 2001 Bethany Church Road, Belton. Pruitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
