Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of Bessie Whitfield. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are: three daughters, Ginger Phillips of Anderson, Tasha Schofield of Honea Path, and Angel Ray of Sumter, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her mother, a son, Steven Lee Turner, a daughter, Josie Kidd, and a brother, Junior Phillips.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Jason Sturkie officiating.
