Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Willie and Lila Baker Murdock.   He was a graduate of Honea Path High School and retired from the U.S. Air Force.  His second retirement was from NASA at Cape Canaveral.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a son Jamie, twin daughters, Dawn and Jennie; a brother Pat Murdock; three sisters, Charlotte Holland, Shirley Wilson and Jean Copelan and four grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother Bill Murdock and a sister Nancy Murdock Crosby.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Titusville, Florida.
