Surfside Beach – Wallace Haynie Hamby, Sr., 76,, widower of Linda Hamby, of 510 Fairwood Lakes Rd., died Friday, August 18, 2017 at his home.
Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late James Milford and Sara Gambrell Hamby. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and was retired after thirty-three years as a conductor for CSX Railroad.
Mr. Hamby is survived by one son: Wallace Hamby Jr. of Ware Shoals; five daughters: Pam Bagwell of Anderson, Joy Stone (Wes) of Townville, Rhonda Green (Andy) of Greer, Katrina Sanders (Philip) of Surfside Beach, and Kelly Drennen (Jeff) of Myrtle Beach; one brother: Mike Hamby (Sissy) of Seneca, one sister-in-law: Norma Hamby; fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Larry Hamby; and two sisters: Gloria Bolden and Brenda Hart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 23 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
The family is at the home of a granddaughter: Summer Brock, 11501 Belton-Honea Path Highway, and will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Pruitt Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
