Ware Shoals, S.C. Mattie Cobb Crawford, 78, widow of Jack A. Crawford died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton, Ga. She was born in Greenwood County, a daughter of the late Louie Marshall and Rose Crane Cobb. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and the Boyd Bobo Chapter of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons: Tommy E. Crawford, Honea Path and Michael E. Crawford, Greenwood: one daughter, Debbie C. Thompson, Abbeville: two sisters, Betty Cooper, Atlanta and Barbara Mc Curry, Ware Shoals : one brother, James Cobb, Greenwood: six grandchildren , Russ Thompson, Jana Witt, Levi Crawford, Ryan Libertino, Anna Crawford and Owen Crawford and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 2 pm at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones, Rev. Jonsie Brewer, and Rev. Scott Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Bruce Cobb, Chuck Cobb, Perry Cobb, Shane Cooper, Pat Cobb, Buddy Cobb and Bob Cobb. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

The body will be placed in the church Thursday at 1 pm. The family is at the home of daughter, Debbie and Jimmy Thompson, 3273, Hwy. 20, Abbeville and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home Wednesday, 6-8 pm.
