Laurens, SC Sara Authula Tumblin, 84 of 6720 Neely Ferry Road died October 21, 2008 at her home. She was born in Laurens County, a daughter of the late Floyd and Annie Laura Brissie Cooper. She had worked for Riegel Textile Corp. and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
She was first married to the late C.F. Russell and to the late William M. Tumblin. Surviving are three sons: Randy Tumblin of the home, Bob Tumblin, Rossville, Ga., and Keith Tumblin , Pelzer; nine daughters; Barbara Harbin, Alabama, Revonda Thornton, Greenwood, Cecil Sprouse, Greenwood, Rachel Payne, Surfside Beach, Sara Wilson, Chickamauga, Ga., Rachel Kay, Greenville, Linda Tumblin, Laurens, Jeannie Mooney, Williamston and Wanda Tumblin of the home; two brothers, J.W. Cooper, Waterloo, Rudolph Cooper, Beaufort; one sister, Vera Mahon, Greenville; one nephew, Floyd Moore, two nieces, Carlette Howard and Martha Gassaway and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Bud Tumblin, a brother, Howard Cooper, two sisters, Beatrice Moore and Edna Tumblin and a niece, Laura C. Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 am at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Garrison and Rev. Jack Reid officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and the Radiant Sunday School Class will sit as the honorary escort.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home in Ware Shoals Friday, 7-9 pm. The body will be placed in the church at 10 am Saturday.
