Honea Path – Mrs. “Mama” Gladys Lusk Martin, 101, widow of Roy Martin, formerly of The Maples in Honea Path, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 21, 2008 at The Anderson Place Skilled Nursing Home.

Mrs. Martin was the only daughter of the late Elizabeth C. and Fred Lusk. She was a well known seamstress and decorator, making beautiful draperies and furniture covers that graced many homes in this area. She worked for Maynard’s of Belton and had her own private business that she ran from her home on Sunset Drive. She was an avid gardener who shared flowers and plants with all who come.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Honea Path, being one of the oldest members. For 35 years, she was a teacher in the Primary Sunday School Department, and later was a teacher in Adult 5, the Homebound Department and was an active member of WMU.

She is survived by her only daughter Edna Martin Campbell and husband Jim of Honea Path. Family members include a granddaughter Mary Lou Chiles and husband Brad of Simpsonville, a grandson, Dennis Campbell (deceased), and his wife Brenda of Fort Mill SC. Great grandchildren Kristi Ainsley and husband Bill, Kevin Martin Campbell, Jonathan and Benjamin Chiles and three great-great grandchildren Gabrielle Campbell, Grayson and Brennan Ainsley. Four brothers predeceased her, Edgar, Dewey, Vance and Frank Lusk.

Graveside services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, at the Garden of Memories with the Rev. Mike Moody and a nephew, Fred Lusk officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 P.M. at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of her daughter, at 5 Sunset Drive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to thank all of those at the Maples of Honea Path and Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson who were so thoughtful and kind, making her days pleasant
