Honea Path – James Roy McMillan, 85, widower of Martha Latimer McMillan, formerly of 4003 Shady Grove Rd., died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at AnMed Health Center in Anderson.

Born in Anderson County he was a son of the late James Clint and Mamie Hall McMillan. He was a member and former deacon of Friendship Baptist Church. He was retired from Dixie Container Co. He was a member of the S.C. Forestry Board for 42 years, treasurer of the Broadmouth Creek Watershed, and was owner and operator of McMillan’s Cotton Gin and Saw Mill.

Surviving are one son, Tim McMillan of Honea Path, one daughter, Mrs. Linda Branyon of Honea Path, one sister, Myrna Salerno of Pawleys Island, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Leon McMillan and a sister, Lollie Mae Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Mike Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. Thursday prior to the service at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Linda Branyon, 3128 Highway 252. The family wishes to express appreciation for the loving Care extended by the staff of The Maples to their father.
