Honea Path – Edna Ruth Rowland Branyon, 93, widow of Jack Ashley Branyon, formerly of Honea Path, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at NHC – Anderson.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Ella Kay Rowland. She was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church and had previously been a member of Keowee Baptist Church for 50 years. Mrs. Branyon retired from the Honea Path Shirt Plant. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She had served as District Deputy, District 21 and Grand Electa in the S.C. O.E.S. Grand Chapter, Past Worthy Matron and Electa in the Honea Path Chapter 159 O.E.S., Past Associate Matron of the Belton Chapter 105 O.E.S., and Electa in the Anderson Chapter 130 O.E.S. She was also a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Crescent Court 106, and a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Monaghan’s-Poinsettia Court 17 of Greenville and Magnolia Court 5 of Cayce.
Surviving are: her son, Ronnie (Cheryll) Branyon of Honea Path; three grandchildren, Benji (Amy) Branyon, Josh (Misty) Branyon, and Lori (Wes) Ashley; and eight great-grandchildren, Bryson Branyon, Sullin Branyon, Jaxon Ashley, Tucker Branyon, Jaydon Ashley, Zella Branyon, Lilah Ashley, and Ruthie Pearl Ashley.
Mrs. Branyon was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jackie Branyon; three brothers, Charles Ray Rowland, Troy Rowland, and Max Rowland; and three sisters, Annie Jones, Carrie White, and Malvenia Land.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Josh Phillips officiating.
