Honea Path – Ronnie Lee Bell, 77, husband of Donna Fay Simmons Bell, of Paige Road, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Regency Hospital of Greenville.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Charlie Lee and Alene Gambrell Bell. He was a loyal member of Honea Path Church of God, where he served 25 years as Clerk. Ronnie was a retired veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard with 27 years of service. He retired from Monsanto-Solutia after 41 years. He was also a member of The Gideons. Ronnie graduated from Honea Path High School and was proud to have played softball for the Honea Path Stingers. He dearly loved his family and was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old Gunsmoke episodes.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 39 years of the home are: three daughters, Shannon (Richard) Ellison of Honea Path, Julie (Michael) Wayne of Winston-Salem NC, and Missy (Travis) Hollingsworth of Belton; seven grandchildren, Justin (Lyndsey) Sutherland, Allison Sutherland, Jackson Wayne, Grayson Hollingsworth, Alden Hollingsworth, Aubrey Wayne, and Luke Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Callum Sutherland and Thomas Sutherland; and special niece, Stacey Harward.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Bell Whatley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Honea Path Church of God with Rev. M. Eric Shuler, Rev. George Cooper, and Rev. Charlie Driggers officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1 – 2:15 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service. The family request, all that would like, to please wear garnet and black to the service.
