Honea Path – Johnnie “John” Etsel Cribb, 73, husband of Virginia “Ginny” Cribb of Honea Path passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home. Born in Dillon, S.C. he was the son of the late Julia Weatherford Cribb and Sanders Cribb.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 -1971 where he was stationed at a missile base in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. He was then in the Army Reserve for four years. He worked as a Master Electrician, later earning his A.S. degree in Occupational Technology Industrial Electronics from Florence Darlington Technical College. He retired from Carolina Power & Light (now Duke Energy) after 31 Years, where he worked his way up to Power Plant Control Operator on the Fossil Fuel side.

His hobbies included fishing, bowling, golfing, reading Louis L’Amour westerns, playing pool, and working with his hands. He enjoyed the companionship of rescued pets including his beloved Princess and Little Man.

Surviving, in addition to his devoted wife of 52 and a half years, are three daughters: Jacqueline Baker and husband David, Darleen Cribb, and Laurie Cribb; a brother, Jerry Dwayne Cribb and his wife Jane; a granddaughter, Caroline Baker; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brothers: Rembert, Charles, Freddie, Thomas “Tommy”, and Craig.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 14th at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, 603 N. Main St., Honea Path, with Rev. Bobby Gilbert officiating. A brief committal ceremony with military honors will follow in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson. The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:30 A.M. at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
