Charlotte Burnett

Piedmont – Charlotte Marie McCoy Burnett, 74, of Piedmont, widow of Francis Leonard Burnett, was taken into God’s loving arms on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Oliver and Lula Bell Roberts McCoy. She was a member of Life Church of Piedmont and was a retired rural carrier from the Piedmont Post Office. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at a local food bank. She was voted Piedmont’s citizen of the year for her volunteer work.

Surviving are a son, Richard Infinger of St. George, three daughters, Cindy Garrick of Branchville, Sandy Lytle of Piedmont, and Candy Tooley (Darryl) of Orangeburg, a stepson, Mike Tooley (Vivian) of Greenville, a step-daughter, Tommie Jo Harley (Ernie) of Orangeburg, four sisters, Betty Powell of Greenwood, Yvonne Harrington of Ninety-Six, Gloria Gattis of Abbeville, and Myra Springs of Seneca, six grand children, five great-grandchildren, a son-in-law, Jimmy Kernells, and a sister-in-law, Florine McCoy.

She was pre-deceased by a son, Timothy Burnett, a daughter, Connie Kernells, and three brothers, Carroll, Dennis, and Johnny McCoy, and a grandson, Ruben Garrick, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Life Church in Piedmont with Rev. David Lark officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Judes’s, Life Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
