Marie Smith Risner

Honea Path – Marie Laurue Smith Risner, 92, widow of James Walker Risner, of Honea Path, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at her home.

Born in Anderson County she was a daughter of Robert Simpson and Minnie Lee Todd Smith. She was a member of the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was active in the Senior Friends of Church and the Woman’s Ministry of the Church. She was retired from Honea Path Shirtmakers.

Surviving are three daughters, Rebecca Phillips and husband Robert of Honea Path, Bobbie Jo Ashley and husband Roger of Honea Path, and Judy Wood and husband Jeff of Greenwood, five grandchildren, Karen Clark, Odessa Irby, Jamie Johnston, Risner Wood, and Anthony Ashley, and ten great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, Sonny Boy Risner, three brothers, Robert Olin Smith, James Milton Smith, and Roy Smith, a sister, Bernice Hughes, and a granddaughter, Traci Magaha.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Barry Bryan, Rev. Shane Elrod, and Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
