Deane Johnston

Honea Path – Oliver Deane Johnston, 68 of 16 Florida Street, husband of Rhoda Vilora Bishop Johnston, died Friday, August 30^th at his home.

Born in Charleston, SC, he was a son of the late Burton Johnston and Carrie Belle Ridgeway Johnston. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and had been a member of Donalds Church of God and was retired from Quality Coating and had worked at West End Drugs of Ware Shoals.

Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons; Timothy Wayne Johnston and Joseph Daniel Johnston (Christie), both of Honea Path, three daughters; Sheila Ann Pearson (Donald) of Ware Shoals, Sherry Knowlton (Ral) of Donalds and Kimberly Renee Johnston of Honea Path, one step-son; Walter Ramar (Sandra) of Hodges, five step-daughters; Mildred Martin of Anderson, Nancy Farrell (Robert) of Honea Path, Teresa Quinn (Randy) of Ware Shoals, Connie Arble (Kevin) of Allen Park, Michigan, and Patricia Willliams (Ronnie) of Dade City, Florida, one brother; Ronnie Johnston of Cartersville, Georgia, sister-in-law; Pat Johnston of Ware Shoals, 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother; coach Bob Johnston, sister-in-law; Jane Johnston, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, September 2, 2013 at Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Smith and Rev. James Lollis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Cory Reed officiating. The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
