Elbert “Burt” Gilliam

Laurens – Elbert “Burt” Andy Gilliam, 75, husband of Joyce Parker Gilliam of 3265 Neeley Ferry Road, Lot 13, died Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hendersonville NC, he was a son of the late Frank and Edna Nora Lea Jackson Gilliam. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a Special Forces Ranger during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star. He retired as a welding and pipe fitting superintendent. 

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are, one son, Keith Gilliam of Piedmont, one daughter, Tammy Mantooth (Ryan) of Greenville, three step sons, Billy Kelmer, Jodie Clem, and Larry Bailey, Jr., two step daughters, Linda Kelmer and Christina Lynn Bailey, and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. 

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday March 17, 2012 at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Ware Shoals Cemetery.
