J. Arvel May

Honea Path – James Arvel May, 96, of 1809 Hwy 178 South, husband of Frances Dunlap Pearman May, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Cornelia, Ga., he was a son of the late Newell and Lola Galloway May.    He was a member of Donalds Baptist Church and was twice married first to the late Nell Pruitt May.  He was retired from J.A. May General Merchandise of Donalds and was a veteran in the US Army Air Corps, WWII.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are:  a brother, Earl May of France and two sisters, Wanda Smith of Donalds and Pauline Yokem of Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Friday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Sturkie  and Rev. Troy Crain officiating.  Burial will follow in the Due West Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
